William Gehle Stearns, Jr. 82, of Worthington, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Friday April 8, 2011 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born March 10, 1929 in New Castle Pennsylvania, he was the son of William Gehle Sr. and Harriett Stearns.
He worked at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis in maintenance. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #23 in Indianapolis and American Legion Post #374 in Indianapolis.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Nancy (Nitcher) Stearns whom he married November 8, 1997; children, Rodney Stearns and Debra Stearns both of Indianapolis, Darryl Stearns of Merritt Island, Florida, and Forrest Stearns of Fort Worth, Texas; one stepson, Shawn Alan Edwards of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Braden and Alivia; 1/2 sister Gale Louise Gee and 1/2 brother Robert.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Wanda Irene in 1997 and his parents.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Brent Meyer officiating.
Public gathering from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
