Shirley Yvonne (Conner) Duke, age 91, of Bloomfield, Indiana, peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior on the 6th of October. She was surrounded by family.
Born on July 26, 1935 in Cordele, Georgia, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Terrell and Lenora Conner. Shirley was married to the late Carl Duke on July 3, 1954, sharing 61 beautiful years of marriage.
She was a founding member of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield for many years where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of Tri Kappa and a local card club. Her life was a living testament to love, joy, and kindness.
She is survived by her children, Randy Duke (Marilyn), Carla Duke Rossi (Alex), and Terri Duke Solliday (Jeff); grandchildren, Randi Sue Wilson, Anthony Carl Rossi (Elisa), Zachariah Clifford Duke, Phillip Michael Rossi, Khristan Lane Solliday, Alexandra Nicole Rossi (Layne), Courtney Jane Solliday, Hannah Elizabeth Rossi, Victoria Elizabeth Tallman (Justin), Rebecca Jane Rossi, Caleb Conner Duke, Conner Stephen Dowden (Mackenna), and Cassidy Marie Duke; and great-grandchildren, Jamie Sanders (Nick), Jacob Wilson, Calvin Rossi, Isaac LaBron, Jett Tallman, Rosemary Brown, Malcolm Brown, and Evelynn Dowden, with two more great-grandchildren expected soon. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, infant daughter Gail Duke, and grandson Mitchell Brown.
Her life and faith will be celebrated with a visitation on Sunday, October 11th from 2 pm to 4 pm at Harvest Community Church, and on Monday, October 12th at 1 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm at Harvest Community Church, with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ketcham Memorial Center or Harvest Community Church.
Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance that she is safely home in God's eternal embrace.
