Shelly Jo Root, 42, of Bloomfield, passed away at 8:52 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Greene County General Hospital.

Born February 9, 1976 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Robert and Betty (Merritt) Hutchins.

Shelly was an LPN at Glenburn Home in Linton. She attended Refuge Assembly of God Church. She was a United States Army veteran.

Surviving relatives include: her husband, Simeon Root whom she married January 5, 1999; two daughters, Shelby Root and Scarlett Root both of Bloomfield; one brother, Wayne Anthony of Canada; one sister, Sheila Kegebein of Metter, Georgia; and her parents, Robert and Betty Hutchins of Metter, Georgia.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Langton-Root cemetery in Knox County.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the family of Shelly Root in care of Simeon Root.
