Sally Ann Crecelius' Obituary
Sally Ann Crecelius 75, of Washington formerly of Newberry, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
Born November 18, 1936 in Greene County to Robert K. and Uda E. (Yates) Hughes, who preceded her in death.
Sally is survived by three children: Mrs. Steven (Sara) Smiley of Odon; Lori Fulcher of Washington and John Crecelius and his wife Paula of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Gary (Connie) Scott and Mrs. Ted (Susie) Soliday both of Lyons; six grandchildren, Mrs. Michael (Allyson) Joyce of Washington, Kirk and Lexi Crecelius of Washington, Olivia Smiley of Odon, Jeffery Skinner of Schnellville and Jacob Luttrell of Washington; She was also awaiting the birth of her first great, grandchild due in July of this year. She is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bobby Burns and her parents.
Sally was a secretary for the extension office in Bloomfield. Later she became secretary for Central and then WRV Schools. She was the Administrative Assistant for extracurricular activities including scheduling and aiding with athletic events. She was also instrumental in starting girls softball at Central. She attended New Hope Christian Church in Washington and was a member of the order of Eastern Star in Newberry. Her hobbies included cross stitching beautiful pictures, babysitting her grandchildren, making bears for the children at the hospital, traveling, and caring for her much loved rabbit Speckles.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Newberry United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brad Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel cemetery in rural Lyons.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Lyons, where Newberry Order of Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Firends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Society.
