Obituary

Richard Lee Parr, 70, of Bloomfield, passed away at 9:02 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born June 8, 1945 in New Albany, he was the son of Chauncey and Rosemary (Bernardi) Parr.

He was an electronic technician for NSWC Crane retiring in 2000 after 37 years of service. He was a Navy veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Alton Baptist church but was attending Mineral United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield, lifetime member of the Crane VFW and was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Teresa Parr of Bloomfield; his children, Erin Moore (Dan) of Dayton, Ohio and Ethan Parr (Jennifer) of Bloomfield; his step children, Nikki Abrams of Bloomfield and Kristi Vandeventer (Adam) of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Ciera Abrams, Jaden Abrams, Brynn Vandeventer, Lauryn Vandeventer and Lynlie Vandeventer; and one brother, John Parr of Auburn, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Mike Abrams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Mineral United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Eads and Jim Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Mineral United Methodist Church. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Mineral United Methodist Church or Bloomfield American Legion Post 196.
