Obituary

Paul "Paudy" L. Hansford, 87, of Stratham, New Hampshire passed away peacefully following a short illness at his home on Saturday June 25, 2016.

Paul was born Feb. 8, 1929 in Bloomfield, IN, the son of Ruel "Pete" Hansford and Dessie Townsend Hansford.

Paul was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Bloomfield, IN, and after moving out of state, he attended Bethany Christian Church in Greenland, NH.

Paul served as a member of the U.S. Army in the Korean War, was a proud veteran, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Bloomfield, IN. He was also a member of the Bloomfield Lions Club.

He owned and operated Demaree Cleaners for a number of years. He was manager of the Bloomfield Housing Authority for 25 years, and worked at The Bloomfield State Bank for 20 years. He was also a justice of the peace in Bloomfield in the early 70's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Wilma Ruth Fuller (Howard), his brothers, Kenneth and Bernard Hansford, his sister Mary Ann Strange (Gerald), and brother-in-law Jack Brinegar, two nieces, Cathy Strange and Jane Saunders.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arlene Compton Hansford, his sister, Patty Brinegar, his daughter, Vicki Lambert (Mike) of Bedford, IN, sons Mark "Wally" Hansford (Kim), Bloomington, IN, and Joel Hansford (Nancy), Stratham, NH. He had ten loving grandchildren and twelve wonderful great-grandchildren.

Paul was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with all his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting (small game and mushroom), and making praline candy. In later years, he enjoyed carving walking canes and giving them to family and friends. Overall, his great joy in life was giving to others.

Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had numerous friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield and 9:30am Saturday until the hour of service at the Church.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday at the Bloomfield First Christian Church with Pastor Scott Chastain and Rev Arlen Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery with Bloomfield American Legion Honor Guard having Military Services.
