Nila "Sue" Felton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on July 11, 1948, in Hartford City, Indiana, Sue was a compassionate and dedicated woman who devoted her life to helping others and nurturing her family.

Sue graduated from Montpelier High School and spent over 30 years as a social worker, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those she served. As a Head Start Home Visitor, she traveled throughout the community, teaching and assisting young children and their families from underprivileged backgrounds. Sue's heart for service extended further as she worked in the Brookville SIEOC office, where she managed a food pantry and helped provide energy assistance to those in need.

Her kindness and nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. Sue adored her family, especially her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and took great joy in their lives. Her love of nature and simple pleasures was evident in her passion for flowers, birds and other animals, especially her dog Coco. She was also an avid sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Fever, and the Indiana Hoosiers, both men's and women's basketball.

Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Wayne Albert Felton, who passed away six months earlier on March 28, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Wilma Dean Ickes, and her sister, Sandra Anne Ickes.

Sue's memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her brother, John Ickes; her sisters, Nelva Forrester-Rogers and Kay Kershner; her children, Brad Felton, Staci Walter (Uwe), and Michael Felton (Hana); her beloved grandchildren, Bryce, Abi (Kenny), Carter, Noah, Tyler, Aria, Landon, Jonah, Nora, and Emma; and her great-grandsons, Maddic and Omen.

A small graveside service honoring both Wayne and Sue will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield, Indiana, on October 12, 2024, at 2 p.m. Wayne's cremated remains will be buried alongside Sue. All who knew and loved them are welcome to attend and pay their respects. A Celebration of life will follow at a later date.

Though Wayne and Sue are no longer with us in body, their spirit, love, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives they touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to fund a memorial bench to be placed at Brookville Lake Beach at Mounds State Park in Brookville. All funds over the cost of the bench will be donated to the SIEOC Food Pantry in Brookville in honor of Sue's lifelong commitment to helping others.

In Loving Memory of Wayne Albert Felton, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who passed away on Thursday, 3/28/24 at the age of 81.
Born 12/31/42 in Mineral Indiana, Wayne graduated from Bloomfield High School and served his country in the US Army. He was a dedicated Indiana Conservation Officer for more than thirty years. He was known for his wisdom, passion for fishing, and love of nature. He found solace in gardening and appreciated the beauty of the natural world around him. He loved a good trip to the grocery store. Wayne also enjoyed sports, especially basketball and was known for his witty humor and love of family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father Albert Sylvester Felton, mother Mildred [Miller] Felton, and older brothers Bill and Lee Felton.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife Sue Felton, son Brad Felton, daughter Staci Walter (Uwe), son Michael Felton (Hana) as well as grandchildren Bryce, Abi (Kenny), Carter, Noah, Tyler, Aria, Landon, Jonah, Nora and Emma and great grandsons Maddic and Omen.
Though Wayne may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
