Monte Wayne McIntosh, Bloomfield, left this life to be with God, Sunday, April 13, 2015.

He was a strong Christian who through his actions, set an example of living in Christian faith.

He was a lover of life and was never afraid to try something new.

Devoted husband of nearly 48 years, to Sue McIntosh, he was rarely found in public without his wife by his side.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed all of the beauty and bounty that nature had to offer. He loved hunting any game bird and fishing and spent many days in the field, woods and on the water all across the country doing what he loved with friends and family.

Throughout his life, he tried and succeeded at many things. He was likely most skilled at woodworking and carpentry. He was an artist who used wood as his medium. Unknown to most, he was also a poet and has penned many, unpublished poems. He was an automobile enthusiast and had a great appreciation for a nicely restored auto. He was a farmer, a realtor, and was often called upon as a towing service on Rubber Tree Road. He and his wife Sue were Jr Prom sponsors for many years and it is suspected that he enjoyed attending these proms in an effort to teach others his unique dancing style.

He worked for many years for the United States Department of Agriculture in the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) in the Greene County Office.
Monte was most well known as a Teacher. He taught for 7 years at L&M High School before spending the next 33 years at Bloomfield School District where he taught Industrial Arts and Family Living. During his time at Bloomfield, he was also a Track, Cross Country and Golf coach.

He Graduated from L&M High school in 1966 and Indiana State University with a BA in Teaching and a MA in Industrial Arts in 1971.

He was a Father to Jeff (Tina), Monica James (Brian), and April Patterson (Tanner). He was a Grandfather to Maia, Web and Georgia McIntosh, Brady Anderson, Connor and Brison James, Blaine, Maddisen, Layne, and Zayne Patterson.

He was a brother to Tom McIntosh (Laura), Bob McIntosh (Mandy), Karen Burnett (Mike) and Kenny McIntosh (Kathy).

He was preceded in Death by his father Wayne and his mother Oaklene.

He was an example to all and a mentor and good friend to many.

He will be greatly missed and wonderfully remembered by all who were ever touched by him in some way…


Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Tulip Church of God in Bloomfield, with Pastor Jeff Rockey officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Public Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services on Thursday at the Tulip Church of God. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

The Family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Tulip Church of God.
