Mildred Joan Childers, 88, of Bloomfield, passed away at 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Lyons Health & Living Center. Born July 23, 1929 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Lavon and Ines (Foster) Byers.

She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Christian Church. She enjoyed playing Euchre. She married Lowell Childers on March 1, 1969.

Surviving relatives include: her husband, Lowell Childers; children, Davie Joe Achors (Pat) of St. Louis, Missouri, Charlotte Kroening (John) of Trafalgar, Brenda Strange (Earl) of Bloomfield and James Achors ( Diana) of Bloomfield; her step children, Noel Childers of Bloomfield and Sharon Wiles of Lyons; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and great, great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Byers, 3 sisters, Wilma Jean Emery, Betty Pearson and Oleta Long and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Gosport Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 1 hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
