Obituary

Michael J. "Mick" Cone, 76, of Edwardsport passed away Monday July 20, 2026 at AscensionSt. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born January 27, 1950 the son of George Cone and Deloris Eloise (Ausman) (Cone) Newkirk.

Mick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War before beginning a career that reflected the same dedication and work ethic. He spent much of his career as a parts manager for General Motors before taking to the open road as a semi-truck driver. He drove for Bestway for many years and later for Walmart until his retirement. No matter where he worked, Mick was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and the pride he took in a job well done.

If you knew Mick, you knew he almost always had a guitar in his hands or a pick in his pocket. A gifted musician and composer, he found joy in making music and sharing it with others. When he wasn't playing, you could usually find him tinkering in his shop, riding his Triumph, or spending time with his beloved hot rods.

Surviving relatives include his children, Wesley (Autumn) Cone, Shane (Bradi) Reining, Tony (Chelsea) Cummins, his grandchildren, Dax Cone, Lux Cone, Nyx Cone, Baze Cone, Mika Reining, Eva Cummins, Connor Cummins, Trey Cummins, Siblings, Jeanne Fields, Judith (Brett) Reynolds, John Newkirk, James (Jeanna) Newkirk, several nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Friday July 24,2026 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
