Mary R. Bever, 81, of Owensburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in the presence of family.

Born October 28th, 1943, in Dresden, Indiana. She was the daughter of Everett (Buster) and Louise (Jefferies) O'Bannon. She married Lee M. Bever on August 31st, 1962, and he preceded her in death on January 29th, 2001.

Mary, affectionally known as Mamaw or Mamz, was a strong maternal figure in her family. Standing barely 5'2", she was the height benchmark every grandchild wanted to exceed growing up. Many have fond memories of standing back-to-back to see if they had reached their goal.

Mary was a socially active person who loved to watch all types of sports, fish, and play slots. She was an avid card player, Euchre being her game of choice, and she loved to attend her weekly card parties. She was on the go several days a week with family and friends.

Mary is survived by her twin brother John (Lela) O'Bannon of Owensburg, her children Kimberly (Daemon) Shell of Owensburg, Rebecca (Simo) Lachgar of Atlanta, Michele (Shawn) Holsapple of Morgantown, her grandchildren Caci (Tim) Helton-Beyers of Atlanta, Kendra (Tyler) Kalber and children Kyten and Kellex of Owensburg, Nate Helton of Bedford, Skylar (Zachary) Granger and children Kanyin and Zyzix of Owensburg, Keller (Tiara) Shell and children Gracie, Kinzlee, Avalynn of Owensburg, Ashlee Holsapple of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Victor Bever, a sister Sally Cramer, and two brothers, Dick and Fred O'Bannon.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Owensburg Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Owensburg-Jackosn Township Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Owensburg-Jackson Township Fire Department.
