Malissa Dawn Tatum, 47, of Bloomington, sadly passed away surrounded by her loved ones on March 14, 2023 after undergoing brain surgery due to a blood stroke at Bloomington Hospital.

Dawn was born on September 22, 1975 to Darla Jean Pruitt and Joseph Raymond Long in Bloomington, Indiana. Dawn was a loving daughter, sister, mother and friend.

Dawn is survived by her three children, Shelby Tatum (Dareal), Darla Tatum (Jaymon), Cody Hoene (Emily); one grandson, Grayson Henrey Deckard, two bonus children, Ethan Melton and Gavin Pemberton; siblings, twin brother, Edward Dean Long, Maranda Sosbe (David) and niece, Abby, Harley Long, one Aunt Marsha Patton and many nieces and nephews.

Dawn was preceded in death by her mother, Darla Pruitt, father, Joseph Long, bonus dad Dale Pruitt, grandparents, Betty and Harless Pelfree, cousin, Kimberly Patton and brother Brandon Long.

Dawn will be forever honored as an organ donor, for giving up a part of her for someone else. She is missed and loved by everyone who knew her.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday March 20, 2023 at Dishman Cemetery with Pastor Tom officiating.
