Lowell P. Childers 97, of Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Glenburn Home in Linton.

Born May 24, 1927 in Bedford, he was the son of Abijah and Gertrude (Bird) Childers.

Lowell was an over the road truck driver for Aero Oil Company, Logging over 3 million miles. After retirement, he also drove a dump truck for Wilson Construction and after retirement work part time at Wright's Sunoco in Bloomfield. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Bloomington and served his country in the United States Army.

Surviving relatives include: his son, Noel D. Childers of Bloomfield; one daughter, Sharon K. Childers-Wiles of Bloomfield; daughter-in-law, Lynn Childers Lampman (Steve); his step children, Charlotte Kroening (John) of Trafalgar, Brenda Strange and James Achors (Diana) both of Bloomfield; one brother, Jack Childers of Buelaville, North Carolina and Viola Hall of Gosport; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and eight step great, great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Joan Childers on November 12, 2017, his son, Joel Paul Childers, a stepson, David Joe Achors, one granddaughter, Paula Jo Childers, his brothers, Henry, Denver, Robert, Charles and Elmer Childers and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Gosport Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Glenburn Nursing Home Special Care Unit.
