Lorene (Helms) Lindsey, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning,
Feb 15, 2026. Born on November 29, 1940, to Harvey and Mildred (Heaton) Helms. Lorene was one of twelve children. She married the love of her life, Bennie Lindsey, on April 30, 1965, and was happily married for 38 years before he went to be with the Lord in 2003.

Early in life, she was employed at RCA then spent several years cleaning homes. She was a lifelong member of Solsberry Christian Church. She loved traveling out west to the mountains, cowboys, Alan Jackson, and most of all her family.

She is survived by her sons, Barry (Liz) and Kyle (Jessica), her grandchildren: Rachel, Lauren, Ben (Hannah Walls), Jacob and Caleb, siblings: Dolly Vandeventer, Nancy Craig, Nelli Yoho (David Stille), Ronnie Helms (Brenda), and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Kelly, brothers: Oscar, Harvey Jr., Homer, and sisters: Vada Clayton, Margaret Leigh, Dorothy James, Evelyn Hamlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday, February 21st at Solsberry Christian Church with Pastor Robert Martindale officiating. Burial to follow at Newark Cemetery.
Public visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21st from 10am – 1 pm at Solsberry Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Newark Cemetery.

Lorene's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her Stonecroft Heath Campus family that cared for her for almost 8 years and for Southern Care Hospice for the amazing care these last few weeks.
