Lloyd Thompson, 88, of Bloomfield passed away Thursday October 8, 2026. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, skilled craftmanship, and lifelong enthusiasm for the pursuits he loved.
Born August 12, 1938 the in Monicello, Kentucky the son of Arter and Ora (Powell) Thompson
An avid outdoorsman, Lloyd found great joy in fishing and hunting. Whether pursuing local game or traveling on big-game hunting trips, he treasured every opportunity to spend time outdoors.
Lloyd was the former owner of E.T. Racetrack in Lyons, where he shared his passion for racing with the community for many years. A devoted drag racer, Lloyd remained active in the sport until the age of 75, a testament to the passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
He also owned Thompson Body Shop for many years, applying his skill and craftmanship to repairing and painting vehicles.
Lloyd was also an avid artist who expressed his creativity through oil-on-canvas painting, creating works that reflected his patience, skill and appreciation for beauty. He was equally gifted at restoring antique cars, welcoming the challenge of each project and proudly displaying his finished vehicles at antique car shows.
Surviving relatives include his wife Edna Thompson, three sons, Timothy (Sondra) Thompson, Jeffrey (Crystal) Thompson, Christopher Thompson, three step daughters, Kim VanDeventer, Larrysa VanDeventer, Donni VanDeventer, four grandchildren, Joshua (Jayme) Thompson, Leairra Thompson, Gavin (Katie) Thompson, Derek Thompson, step-grandson, Vince VanDeventer, four great grandchildren, Jasye Thompson, Tye Thompson, Griffyn Thompson, Jocelyn Thompson, two brothers, Vernon (Peggy) Thompson, Keith (Shelia) Thompson, two sisters, Virga (Millard) Huett and Elaine Thompson.
Lloyd was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Thompson, step-son, Tony VanDeventer, two granddaughters, Brittany and Stephanie Thompson, two sisters, and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 P.M. on Monday at the Switz City Full Gospel Church and 1 P.M. Tuesday until the hour of service at the Church.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Switz City Full Gospel Church with Vernon Thompson and Keith Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery
The family ask that any memorial donations in Lloyd’s name be given to Walnut Grove Cemetery.
