Leonard C. Horn, 88, of Switz City, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Thursday November 2, 2006 at Lyons Health and Living Center.
Born February 16, 1918 in Greene County he was the son of Timothy and Rella (Fordyce) Horn.
He was a Pearl Harbor survivor who was serving on the USS Utah during the bombing. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years and was in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the WWII peace treaty with Japan. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He belonged to the Worthington VFW, Fleet Reserve, and the Moose lodge in Linton.
Survivors include: three nieces, Juanita (Horn) Lamm of Indianapolis, Jacqueline (Horn) Phillips of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Kathleen (Horn) Trammell of Venidocin, Ohio; one aunt, Ethel Rollison formerly of Bloomfield and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, G. Lorene Horn in 2002, and two brothers, Charles and Marshall Horn.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday November 5, 2006 at Jenkins & Sons funeral home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Lysle Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Switz City cemetery where military honors will be presented.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
