Katherine D. (Martindale) Kindred Carpenter 1925 – 2009 I am the resurrection and the life he that believeth in me though he were dead yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this. (John 11:25-26.) Katherine went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 9:50pm at her residence on Rt 1 Bloomfield. She was 83 years, 10 months and 6 days old. Born March 20, 1925 in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Frank Lester and Bessie Belle Blaker Martindale. She married Wilbert Kindred on February 12, 1943 and to this union were born Randy Dean, Rita Dianna, Ross Dwight, Renetta Darlene, Marsha Jean and Michael Darwin. Her husband was killed in a tractor accident thirteen years after his death she married Wendell Carpenter on June 28, 1988. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Bloomfield Woolen Mill and Crane Naval Center. Katherine and Wendell were very active and committed to the Trinity Gospel Church in Washington, Indiana. They enjoyed many activities with their church and attended regularly until her failing health prevented this association. She enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Katherine had extended health problems for a number of years but continued to believe her Lord was still on the throne. After many hospital stays she was anxious to come home and with continuous help of her children, family and health care people she was able to stay home until the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband, Wendell, and her children: Randy, Ross (Marilyn) and Renetta (Floyd) Budd all of Bloomfield and Rita (Jim) Knight of Hymera and Marsha Grenat of Lafayette. Also sisters Linda Lou (Don) Green and Ruby Anderson of Bloomfield and sister-in-law Sandra Martindale of Bedford, brothers Herbert (Mildred) Martindale of Solsberry and Jim Martindale of Bloomfield. Also step children June Powell and Eugene (Donna) Carpenter. Her grandchildren Terri Windhorst of Greenwood, Carri Quakenbush of Bloomfield, Ron Kindred of Linton, Renee Pool and J. David Knight both of Sullivan, Brad Kindred of Bloomfield, Jenna Walker of Bloomington, Stacey Corbin of Bloomfield, Jason Austin of Scottsburg, Ryan Austin of Bloomfield, Regina Pearson of Bloomfield, Richie Budd of Linton, Monica Sluder of Terre Haute, Mackshane Budd of Farmersburg, Vernon Grenat of Attica, Beth Coates of Lafayette, Rick Grenat of Lafayette, Jimmy Kindred and Garrett Kindred both of Owensburg. 33 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Wilbert in 1975 and their son Michael Darwin in 1981. One grandchild Pamela Budd on January 27, 2009, a great granddaughter Bria Dawn Sluder in 1998. Two brothers Eugene and Wilbur and her Parents Visitation will be Friday January 30, 2009 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 4 to 9 pm. And 12 Noon until the hour at the Southside Wesleyan Church on South Seminary in Bloomfield. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday January 31, 2009 at the Southside Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Jonathan Meenach officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
