Joyce Ellen (Frye) Emery, beloved wife, adored mother and dearly loved grandmother, passed away Monday morning at 6:55 a.m. at her residence surrounded by her loved ones, following a long illness.
Born August 28, 1931 in Bloomfield, Indiana, she was the daughter of Clovis Willie "Buck" Frye and Nona Elizabeth (Frey) Frye. She was the granddaughter of Grace Elizabeth (Townsend) Frey and William C. Frey; and Mary (Fuller) Frye and John Frye.
She is survived by her husband, Jerdon Lee Emery; one daughter, Kelly Rae Emery Anderson, and one granddaughter, Audrey Ellen Anderson all of Bloomfield, and Audrey's fiance' Justin Memering of Vincennes.
She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Belle Hall of Bloomington, two brothers, Dale Frye of Bloomfield and Jerald Frye of Linton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy graduated from Bloomfield High School with the class of 1949 and married Jerdon on December 5, 1952. She waorked as a bookkeeper at the Bloomfield Woolen Mill; worked part-time at the treasurer's office of Greene County and at NSWC Crane. Her most cherished role was spent as a homemaker, lovingly caring for her family, raising her daughter and caring for her granddaughter.
Joyce was a member of the Antioch Christian Church, Bloomfield, Indiana. She was a devoted Christian and asked for comfort and thanked God continually amidst painful suffering and a long illness. She was a graceful example to her family and all who new her.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The Service will be led by Reverend Billy Ed Hostettler and Reverend Arlen Pope. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery.
