John Sparks, 67, of Lyons passed away Friday August 16, 2024 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

John was born on February 19, 1957 the son of Mary (Abrams) Sparks and Herbert Sparks.

John attended Developmental Services, Inc., (DSI) in Lyons, he was a man of few words, he loved people and never forgot a face. John was the most popular person in Walmart, he loved to watch sports, especially football, he enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, he was a good bowler, and loved his cards and would play with them for hours.

John is survived by his sister, Teresa (Allen) Empson of Bloomfield, brother Jay (Robin) Sparks of Greencastle, nieces Sara (Logan) Mumma of Bloomington, Kara (Zack) Empson of Indianapolis, Tara (Frank) Empson of Knoxville, Tenn., nephews, Luke Sparks of Ankeny, IA., Jayson (Kamlyn) Sparks of Terre Haute, Tyson Sparks of Greencastle, great nephew, Gabriel Mumma, great niece, Quinn Ruddick and his best friend Pam Fields.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. on Thursday August 22, at the Greene County Chapel Church.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Greene County Chapel Church with Rev. Rob Martindale and Michael Abrams officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Chapel Cemetery

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Greene County Chapel Cemetery or the Special Olympics in John's name.
