Obituary

John Edward McAtee, 52, of Bloomington formerly of Newark, passed away 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his residence.
Born January 26, 1956 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of John Harris and Dorothy Jean (Rutledge) McAtee.
He was the long time proprietor of the Newark General Store and was a machinist for Greiner Engineering in Bloomington. He was a member of the Newark Baptist Church and an avid fisherman.
Surviving relatives include: his father and stepmother, John and Anna McAtee of Mitchell; one brother, Robert McAtee and his daughters, Jessica, Amber, and Samantha all of Bloomington; two sisters, April Wise and her finace' Brian Askins of Spencer and Debbie Ramsey and her sons Cody and Cory all of Spencer; two stepbrothers, Dwayne and his wife Brenda Lynn of Solsberry and Danny and his wife Anita Lynn of Phoenix, Arizona; two stepsisters, Pam and her husband Dave Decker of Solsberry and Beatrice Williams of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Jean McAtee on October 8, 2008.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Raymond New officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Newark cemetery in rural Solsberry.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Volunteers in Medicine 333 East Miller Drive Bloomington, Indiana 47401.
