Obituary

John L. Gastineau passed away peacefully March 31 at the age of 84. By his account it was a good, long run. He looked forward to reuniting with his beloved wife, Scottie, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born at home on June 20, 1932 he was the eldest son of Garrell Adam and Mary Elsie (Taylor) Gastineau who preceded him in death. Mr Gastineau was a veteran of the Korean War era serving honorably with the U.S. Navy. After his return home from overseas military duty he served his state for 20 years with the Indiana State Police. He retired in 1977 with the rank of Captain, he was a member of the Switz City Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in passing by his sister Betty Jo King and one grandson, Michael Findley. He is survived by a brother, Donald "Gene", three sons, John, Michael and Damon, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren..

Mr. Gastineau requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children or a similar organization for kids.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Erin Raper officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
