John Robert Emery, 73, of Bloomfield, was surrounded by his wife and children as he passed into Eternity at their farm on Wednesday May 8, 2019. He loved farming, hunting and spending time with family, sitting by the fire telling stories from days gone by and the sunny slopes of long ago.

Born March 12, 1946 in Linton, he was the son of Paul and Tressa (Bough) Emery.

He was employed by Crane AAA as an Explosives Operator and retired from the Army side after more than 35 years of service and was a farmer.

He was a member of Harvest Community Church, he was loved by his wife and children and many others, he will be dearly missed.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Sondra (Hawkins) Emery whom he married June 23, 1967; his children, Lori Thompson, Tami Allen (Brian), Billye Beasley (Alan) and John Nathan Emery; his grandchildren, Cody King, Alyssa Allen and Wyatt Allen; one sister, Janet Myers (Sam) and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Robert King; sons-in-law Kevin King and Brian Thompson; paternal grandparents Sam and Susie (Henry) Emery; maternal grandparents Jim and Goldie Bough and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Scotland cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
