John R. Burris 65, of Bloomfield, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his residence.

Born June 28, 1952 in Crane, Indiana he was the son of Paul Cecil Sr. and Lucille (Driscol) Burris.

John retired in 2012 from NSWC Crane after 39 years of service where he was an Electronics Technician. He was a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #84 and the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196. He was active in AFGE at Crane.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Lora (Jenkins) Burris whom he married January 23, 1998; his children, Johnny P. Burris (Luisa) of Arlington, Texas, Amber D. St. John of Bloomfield and Tristen M. Burris of Evansville; his step children, Anne M. Coker of Bloomington and Neil A. Coker (April) of Mitchell; two brothers, Larry G. Burris and James R. Burris both of Owensburg; and his grandchildren, Kianna, Kevin, Samuel, Jenna and Whitney.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Cecil Burris, Jr., an infant sister, Janet Burris , brother-in-law, James Jenkins and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery.


Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Bloomfield American Legion Post #196.
