Janet Ray (Vandeventer) Helms, 90, of Switz City, Indiana passed away Saturday March 7, 2026.

Born January 29, 1936 in Greene County, Indiana the daughter of Otis and Grace (Bingham) Vandeventer.

Janet was a homemaker and a member of the Gethsemane Tabernacle Church in Bloomfield; she enjoyed reading poems, writing to her pen pals, word search puzzles, board games, good jokes and time with her family.

Surviving relatives include her children, Angela Mowery of Indianapolis, Bradley Helms of Iowa, Barry (Bonnie) Helms of Dugger, daughter-in-law, Lisa Helms of Switz City, she has nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild on the way and one sister, Joyce Franklin.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Helms, one son Timothy Helms, one sister, JoAnn Sharr and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday March 12, 2026 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 12 P.M. Friday until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Brother Eugene Helms and Brother Cliff Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow at Hash Cemetery.
