James Raymond Roberts, 69, of Bloomfield, passed away 4:48 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 29, 1938 in Greene County, he was the son of Raymond and Frances (Dowden) Roberts.
He worked at Hasler Oil Company in Bloomfield for 52 years. Jim loved mechanic work at Hasler's and was well known for his abilities there. He was an avid fisherman. His most enjoyable memories were spending time with his grandkids and family.
Surviving relatives include: his wife of 48 years, Joan (Stantz) Roberts; two sons, James F. Roberts and his wife Amy of Dallas, Texas and Jason Roberts and his wife Tracy of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Ashley and Hannah Roberts of Dallas, Texas, Makenzie, Carter, and Dayson Roberts of Bloomfield; one sister, Joanna Roberts of Petersburg; Aunts and Uncles, Lowel and Jewell Sparks and Alvin and Lorene Roberts all of Bloomfield; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frederick F. Roberts, and one son, Bruce W. Roberts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Interment will be in Scotland cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
