James "Jim" Russell Parsley, 82, of Owensburg, Indiana passed away at 1:35 A.M. on Monday September 29, 2008 at the Bloomington Hospital.
Born December 6, 1925 in Owensburg, Indiana he was the son of James Ernest and Mary (Jackson) Parsley.
James was retired from Crane and a WWII Veteran of the US Army. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Owensburg Baptist Church. Jim was a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196. He was a caregiver for his Mother during her illiness and a caregiver for his sister Mary during her illiness. During his lifetime he raised peacocks, quails, pheasants, cows and other animals.
He is survived by two brothers Herman Parsley and his wife Betty of Springville, IN. and Robert Parsley and his wife Mae of Owensburg. He also had many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and one God-child Cris Floyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers Orville Parsley, Johnnie Parsley, Elmer Parsley, Charles Parsley and Raymond Parsley. He was also preceded in death by four sisters Ona Rollins, Naomi Parsley, Mary "Betty" Horn and Merville Parsley.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday September 30, 2008 and 10 A.M. until the hour Wednesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday October 1, 2008 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery with the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196 Military Honors
