James Edward McElroy, 72, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on November 18th, 2024. He was born November 14th, 1952, the son of Herb and Ellen (Bucher) McElroy. Jim was employed, over the years, by BF Goodrich, Anbro Electric and Laborers Union Local 741.

Jim graduated from Bloomington High School. He loved IU Basketball and traveled to numerous games and tournaments with the team. He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and considered MOPAR the very best. However, his greatest passion was fishing with his son, Jimmie.

He is survived by his children, Jimmie McElroy (Amanda) and Courtney Vencel (Logan), his grandchildren McCoy and Kyle Vencel and Heston, Hank, and Hagen McElroy. All of Bloomington. Sisters Joellen Burton (Ron) Washington, IL, Donna Carnegie (Andy), Carol Carnegie Haynes, both of Bloomington and an aunt, Martha Ramsey, of Bloomington. Jim was blessed with a great number of nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Ellen McElroy, and brothers in-law Norm Allen, Chris Carnegie, and Bill Haynes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home, in Bloomfield, IN, with Rev. Raymond New officiating. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery, in Scotland, IN. Friends may visit from 5 to 8 pm on Friday and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Clear Creek Christian Church, in Bloomington, IN or New Prospect Church, in Dolan, IN in Jim's memory.
