James R. Hanson, 78, of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday September 6, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, Indiana.
Born May 23, 1927 in Solsberry, Indiana. He was the son of Charles W. and Verna (Burch) Hanson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield and the Worthington VFW. He was a supervisor for NWSC Crane
Survivors include: one daughter, Bonita E. Hanson of Bloomington; two sons, James David Hanson of New Albany, Indiana and Darrell Eugene Hanson of Florida; one sister, Mary Gainey of Bloomfield; two brothers, John Hanson of Columbus, Ohio and Forest Hanson of Bloomfield; two grandsons, Patrick Hanson of Bloomington and Bryant Hanson of Danville; one granddaughter, Samantha Bloom of Florida; one great granddaughter, Courtney Camby of Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah on May 21, 2004, one son, Keith Hanson, and two sisters, Grace Hanson and Thelma Collings.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Brother Ed Smith officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery where Bloomfield American Legion Post 196 will conduct military graveside services.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 1 hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
