James Lawrence Cook 77
James Lawrence Cook, 77, of Bloomfield, passed away at 4:58 p.m. on Sunday July 10, 2005 at Select Specialty Hospital, Bloomington.
Born Aug. 8, 1927 in Greene County, he was the son of Emery and Clovie (Flake) Cook.
He was an Army veteran of World War II where he was a Medic/Para Trooper. He retired from Crane NWSC as an ordinance worker. He had previously been employed at the Bloomfield Brickyard. He was manager of Shady Grove Apartments and was employed at Ace Hardware. He was one of 13 children.
Survivors include: his children, James G. Cook of Bloomfield, Debra Manning of Bloomington, and Shari Ehly of Georgetown, Texas; his best friend Beatrice L. Bailey of Bloomfield; five grandsons, one granddaughter, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Fields and Pat Stewart; and three brothers, Charles Cook, Jack Cook and Joe Cook.
He was prceded in death by his parents, an infant son, five brothers, Wilburn, Max, Marvin, Herschel and Pete Cook, and two sisters, Mary Seals and Dorothy Sexton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Burial will be in Solsberry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
