Iva Jean Groomer, 87, of Bloomfield, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born May 28, 1927 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Elza and Clara Alice (Conner) Sullivan.
She was a homemaker and a member of Gethsemane Tabernacle Church in Bloomfield.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Lynda Thornton of Bloomfield; one son, Clyde Vernon "Toad" Groomer of Bloomfield; a sister, Phyllis Workman of Lyons; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Groomer on June 10, 1974, three sons, David Lee Groomer, Bobby Wayne Groomer and Delbert Gene Groomer, two grandsons, Delbert Gene II and Robby Newport, five sisters, two 1/2 brothers and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Gethsemane Tabernacle Church in Bloomfield, with Brother Ed Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Hash cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Gethsemane Tabernacle Church.
