Gladys M. Edwards, 81, of Newark, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born February 22, 1942 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Troy and Ella (Watkins) Michael. She married John Wayne Edwards on May 20, 1962.
Gladys worked for RCA, starting in 1961 as Thompson Consumer Electronics until the plane closed down. She then worked at Belle Trace until retirement. She attended the Newark Pentecostal Church.
Gladys is survived by two sons, Michael D, Edwards (Cathy) of Bedford and Douglas S. Edwards (Marianne) of Solsberry; one granddaughter, Kelsey N. Edwards of Southport; one brother, Marvin Michael (JoAnn) of Bloomington. Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Wayne Michael (Clara Ruth & JoAnna), Donald Michael (Thelma), Kenny Michael (Doris), Danny Michael (Pam) and Betty Anderson (Jerry) and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jim Roach officiating. Interment will follow in Newark Cemetery.
Public visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Newark Pentecostal Church.
