Gerald L. "Shorty" Uland, 67, of Solsberry passed away Wednesday May 26, 2010 at his residence after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Shorty was born June 2, 1942, to Edna (Linthicum) Uland Britton and M. Ivan Uland in Solsberry, Indiana. After driving a truck for many years he became a farmer and founded Uland & Sons Heavy Equipment Transport. His many passions included drag racing, motorcycles, old cars and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother M. Leon Uland and his father-in-law William R. Hendricks. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Beverly Ann (Hendricks) Uland, three children, son Douglas L. Uland, daughter Kari Beth Uland and daughter Kelli R. Uland all of Solsberry. Two grandchildren Jacob Young and Mia Uland both of Solsberry. One brother Larry E. Uland and his wife Margaret of Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Saturday May 29, 2010 and 1 P.M. Sunday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday May 30, 2010 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Fred Stanger officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery in Solsberry, Indiana.
The family wishes in Lieu of Flowers all donations be made to the Operation Outreach at the Solsberry Christian Church in care of Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
