Gary Lee Blackmore 80, of Newberry, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon.

Born May 18, 1943 in Elnora, he was the son of Phillip and Mary Lou (Robinson) Blackmore.

Gary worked at NSWC Crane in Electronics. He served his country in the United States Army. He was one of the founders and a member of the Taylor Township Fire Department. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fire Fighters Association. Gary, in his early years always enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Lana Pinnick (Scott) of Newberry; one son, Chris Blackmore of Bloomfield; his grandchildren, Justin Bennett, Devin Blackmore, Kenley Blackmore, Kayla Pinnick, Marrissa Pinnick and Britney Pinnick; great, grandchildren, Luke Bennett, Hannah Bennett, Liam Blackmore, Rhys Blackmore, Atlas Leeper and Knox Leeper; two nephews, Jim Blackmore and John Blackmore; one niece, Sarah Astafan; and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Blackmore, one grandson, Austin Bennett, his brother, Larry Blackmore and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jay Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Scotland Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Scotland Cemetery or the Taylor Township Fire Department.
