Emma Mae Backus, 98, of Bedford passed away Thursday October 31, 2024 at the Westview Nursing and Rehab.

Born October 12, 1926 in Oaktown, Indiana the daughter of Miles Osby Moss and Hannah Lucille (Delong) Moss.

Emma was an Insurance Consultant for American State Insurance Company in Indianapolis, she was retired; she was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana.

Surviving relatives include her two sons, Harold (Sharon) Backus, Jerry Backus, her grandchildren, Allyson McMurray, Scott Backus, Jon Backus, Kelly Backus, Angela Stevens, Danny Chaika her great grandchildren, Abby Backus, Jerrod Backus, Makayla Backus, Anthony Roell, Eli Lawson, John Roell, Tyler Roell, Lucy Fisher, she has seven great great grandchildren, two siblings, Ralph (Alice) Moss, Patricia Steinberger and several nieces and nephews.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband Harold Backus, siblings, Lowell Moss, Charles Moss, Jr. Moss, Omalee McClain, Shirley Backus, Gene Moss.

A service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday November 4, 2024 at Lincoln Memorial Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana with Rev. Jay Collins officiating.

Friends and family may gather from 11 A.M. until the hour of service at Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 6851 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, Indiana 46075.

The family ask in lieu of flowers donations in Emma's name be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
