Obituary

Edward Emerson Burch was born January 20, 1937 at rural route Koleen, Indiana to Albert and Mary (McDonald) Burch.

He attended school at Bodwell and Solsberry. Edward served two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Benning, Georgia.

His first job was at Showers Brothers Furniture Factory in Bloomington, Indiana. When he was fifteen years old. His salary began at .78 per hour and was at $1.40 when he was laid off at the factory's closure. He had a life long interest in wood, furniture and in building. He was employed by various companies throughout his working life as a union carpenter and later as a union millwright on construction. Eddie was a hard worker who spent his time working on the farm or on a building project when not employed on construction. His retirement was also spent working on the farm, and working and mowing around the home until his health failed.

Edward was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints, Clear Creek Ward Bloomington, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Louise Cummings and her husband Charles and Mary Belle Peloso and her husband Jim. One brother, Dallas Burch and a son, Asa Burch who preceded him in 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Maudie (Davis) Burch; four sons, Seth Burch, Benjamin (Kathleen) Burch, Lester (Vicki) Burch and Joseph Burch; two brothers, Robert Burch and Charles Burch; six granddaughters, three grandsons and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 4235 W. 3rd Street Bloomington, IN 47403, with Bishop Jerry Hansen officiating. Interment will follow in the Burch Family Cemetery #4.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
