Eddie Dean Long

Eddie Dean Long, 88, of Newberry, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born November 18, 1937 in Greene County, he was the son of Ray D. and Nellie Marie (Hill) Long.

Eddie was a self-employed farmer and was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.

Surviving relatives include: his son, Randy Joe Long (Cheryl), one daughter, Shelley Jo Sparks; his grandchildren, Kimberly Powers (Peter), Ryan Long (Tori), Devin Schantz, Rachele May, L.D. Sparks, Ethan Sparks and Dakota Sparks; great grandchildren, Remy, Taisson, Piper, Sloane, Jaxon, Reese, Grace and Layne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oleta Ann (Byers) Long on December 27, 1997, three brothers, Don, Marvin and Bob Long and his parents.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Antioch cemetery in rural Bloomfield, with Rev Leslie English officiating. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
