Donald E. Yoho
Today with hearts that are bowed with grief and minds that are puzzled as to why, Donnie Yoho passed away on October 6, 2011 while hauling cattle, which was one of his favorite pastimes. His life has come to an end at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 18 days.
Donald Edward Yoho was born in Solsberry, June 18, 1936, to Dwight and Pearl (Sullivan) Yoho. His life was an open book, a quite simple man, as he lived among his community and friends. Upon his return home from the Army he met and married Linda McArtor in August of 1963. He attended Solsberry High School and graduated in 1953, a member of the Hornet basketball team. He served his country in the U.S. Army a member of the Solsberry American Legion, a charter member of the Eastern Fire Department, an Eastern Greene School district bus driver for 47 years. He worked for Yoho & Sons Hauling cattle, water, Christmas trees, farmed the family land and became the proprietor of the Yoho family store in 1999 until his death.
Survivors include a brother, Lavon & Pat Yoho of Solsberry, a niece, Pam Yoho of Bloomfield, a nephew, Jay & Sandi Yoho of Solsberry, two great-nieces, Heather & Jason Perkins and Micah & Chuck Gallion, two great-nephews, J.T. & Trevor Yoho, four great-great nieces, Baylee & Brynlee Perkins, Hope & Grace Gallion, two cousins, Jon & Judy Yoho, Mike & Maria Yoho, and a long time companion, Wanda Nicholson.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Solsberry Christian Church, with Rev. Don Thie and Rev. Matt Whitacre officiating. Interment will be in Solsberry cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 1 hour before services Monday at the Solsberry Christian Church. Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Solsberry United Methodist Church or The Solsberry Christian Church.
