Dennis R. Clayton, 79, of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday October 28, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 14, 1947 in Connersville, Indiana the son of John Walter Clayton and June (Dishman) Keagy.

Dennis was retired from Crane as a Blocker Bracer for the Army; he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving several medals. Dennis was a member of the Crane VFW and the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196. Dennis loved to arrow head hunt, fish, hunt and anything outdoors. He was known to his friends as Ice Man. Being around his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and any family was a true passion of his. Dennis had a smile that never faded, he was very kind and gentle.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Shelia Clayton, his children, Shawn (Pam) Clayton, Jayson Clayton, Jeremy (Missy) Clayton, Axel Clayton, Arabella Clayton, his grandchildren, Samantha Clayton, Desire’e (Josh) Levato, Elizabeth (Mike) Russell, Cheyenne (Rayden) Cunningham, Justice (Alahna) Clayton, Tamra (Kristen) Bealmear, Angel (Ross) Nichols, he has sixteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Sandra (Tony) Kersey, one brother, Roger (Brenda) Clayton and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Myllison Russell, one brother, John Michael Clayton, his step-father, William Keagy, his mother, June Keagy, his father John Walter Clayton and step-mother Patsy Clayton.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 P.M. on Sunday November 1, 2026 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 12 P.M. Monday until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Richard Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Dishman Cemetery.

The family ask any memorial donations in Dennis’s name be given to Jenkins Funeral Home.
