Obituary

Delores A. (Higgins) Porter Sweeney, 91, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon.

Born October 5, 1934 in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Harvey and Eva Faye (Flory) Higgins.

Deloris was a bookkeeper. She worked for Bland Trucking, Flory Farm Center and Bloomfield Manufacturing. She was also the Owner and operator of Affordable Flowers in Bloomfield. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

Surviving relatives include: two sons, Gregory Porter (M.J.) and Bruce Porter (Carla); her grandchildren, Charlie Bill Porter (Kimberly), Kyla Franklin (Craig), Justin Porter (Jayme), Shawn Porter (Lisa), Heather Chesnut (Nathan), Jennifer Hancock (Luke), Megan Porter, Brittany Griffith (Sam), Kelsey Phipps (Frankie) and James Black; and sixteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd W. Porter, her second husband, Tom Sweeney, one son, Mark Porter, her sisters, Thelma McIntosh, Barbara Sullivan, Irene Mason and infant sister, Norma Nell Higgins and her parents.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 1 hour prior to services on Monday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Scott Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in rural Lyons.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
