David Charles Schulte, 74, of Bloomfield IN, born on 13 July 1952, in Jasper IN to Charles Norman Schulte and Margret Alice (Link) Schulte, passed away peacefully at home on 11 March 2026. Prior to his passing he was visited and surrounded by his family and loved ones. When at home, David enjoyed farming and spending time with his immediate family. Away from home, he enjoyed traveling and experiencing many beautiful destinations across our great nation; a significant amount of this travel was in civilian service to this country*.

After graduating from Bloomfield High School, Dave attended Purdue University and graduated with a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering; immediately after which, *in 1974, he began his 50+ career supporting the United States Department of Defense (US DoD) by starting work at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane. Dave performed numerous engineering and management assignments and earned an additional advance degree from the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. In 1996, Dave assumed the role as the Ordnance Engineering Department Director at Crane. In 2004, he was selected to become the Executive Director (Senior Executive Service / SES) of Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA) in Indian Head Maryland. He retired from government civil service in 2007. Dave then started a career in the private sector with SAIC as Senior Chief Engineer supporting US DoD, performing weapons systems' safety support. Dave retired from SAIC in 2024.

He is survived by his former spouse, Kim Schulte and girlfriend Sherrie Cannon; brothers Don Schulte and Doug Schulte (Pam); children, Nathan Schulte (Cindy) and Neil Schulte (Melissa); grandchildren Lacey Hays (Ben), Reese Schulte, Ryan Schulte (fiancé Brooklyn Bucher), and Noah Schulte; great-grandchildren Griffin Hays and Ila Hays.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday 17 March 2026 at Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm. Relatives and close friends are invited to follow the funeral procession to a graveside service immediately following at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg, IN.
