Daniel Lee Schaffer, 86, of Newberry, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born May 25, 1938, he was the son of Horace Maynard and Dorothy R. (Gartner) Schaffer.

Daniel was a explosives operator for NWSC Crane retiring in 2015. He served his country with the United States Air Force.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Paula Schaffer; children, Timothy Wayne Schaffer, Angel Schaffer Rodriguez, Daniel L. Schaffer II, Brandy Lxchel, Aaron Lee Schaffer and Joshua Kent Schaffer; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Ann Harris.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Schaffer and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Harvest Community Church in rural Bloomfield with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Newberry cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday at Harvest Community Church.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
