Curtis L. Porter, 74, of Springville passed away Monday February 7, 2011 at Richland Bean Blossom in Ellettsville, Indiana.
Born December 11, 1936 in Scotland, Indiana the son of Charles and Katie (Miller) Porter.
Curtis was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for the IUOE Local 841 retired. He was a member of the AMVETS and the Solsberry Masoinc Lodge # 411.
Surviving relatives include his wife Doris Porter of Springville, his children Rodney L. Porter of Kirtland, New Mexico; Anita Kuhn of Bradenton, Florida; Sandra Sollars of Newburg, Indiana; Kathy Young of Denver, Colorado; Rhonda Whitledge of Bridgeport, Illinois; Jeff Ferguson of Louisville, Kentucky; Kevin Haskett of North Carolina and Jerry Haskett South Carolina. Seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; one brother Louie Porter of Switz City, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Emma Jo Davis and Bertha Blaker and one brother William Porter.
Friends may call from 1 to 8pm on Wednesday, 7 to 9pm on Thursday and 1 pm until the hour Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Solsberry Masonic Lodge will have a masonic service on Wednesday night at 7pm, Bloomfield American Legion will have Military graveside services on Friday.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday February 11, 2011 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Cliff Gano officiating. Burial will follow at Owensburg Cemetery in Owensburg, Indiana.
The family wishes any donations be made in Curtis name to the American Cancer society or Shriners Hospital.
