Claude D. Cole, 87, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 at Garden Villa in Bloomington.
Born March 14, 1921 in Linton, Indiana, he was the son of Enoch W. and Myrtle (Carter) Cole.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in WW II. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Springville and the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield.He was a member of the VFW in Bloomington, Indiana. He retired from General Electric as an assembly line worker and was a farmer.
Surviving relatives include: his wife of 32 years, Doneva Gayle (Hudson) Cole; two sons, James M. Gardner and wife Kathy of Springville and Arnold H. Gardner and wife Jean of Blair, Oklahoma; three daughters, Melody A. Caswell and husband John of Springville, Cathy C. Hodges and Fiance' Mike Thomas of Worthington, and Tammy M. Vest and husband Randy of Bloomfield; one brother, Harry Cole of Torrence, California; one sister, Lucille Carmichael and husband Warren of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great, grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, George Cole, Clifford Cole, Lincoln Cole, and Paul Wayne Cole, and one sister, Martha Emery.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Pastor Bobby Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Carmichael cemetery in rural Bloomfield where military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 196 Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 1 hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Grace Baptist Church in Springville.
