Carl Duke, of Bloomfield, Indiana, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with The Lord on September 1st, 2015. He was loved by his wife, children and grandchildren, and was respected by all. A man of few words, his life spoke volumes. If he met you, you mattered to him. He loved unconditionally and was a servant at heart. He was born on October 1st, 1930, in Cordele, Georgia. He served in the Army receiving many medals of distinction. He retired from Crane after 25 years of service. He helped build, and was a member of Faith Christian Church. He was a hard worker and lived a humble life sacrificing for his wife and children. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, the love of his life, his son, Randy Duke (Kim), whom he loved coaching in baseball, and the apples of his eye, Carla Duke Rossi (Alex), and Terri Duke Solliday (Jeff). Grandchildren include Randi Sue Wilson, Zachariah Clifford Duke, Caleb Conner Duke, Cassidy Marie Duke, Anthony Carl Rossi, Phillip Michael Rossi, Alexandra Nicole Rossi, Hannah Elizabeth Rossi, Rebecca Jane Rossi, Victoria Elizabeth Dowden, Conner Steven Dowden, Khristan Lane Solliday, and Courtney Jane Solliday, along with three great grandchildren, and brother Jimmy Duke.
Visitation will be Friday, September 4th, from 4 to 7pm, as well as Saturday, September 5th at 12 pm. The funeral will be Saturday, September 5th, at 1 pm at Faith Christian Church, with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to IU Hospice Bloomington Hospital, or Faith Christian Church of Bloomfield.
