Carl Allen was born September 3, 1918 in McCammron Township, Martin County, Indiana. He died January 6, 2016 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He had lived in Taylor Township, Greene County, Indiana for 70 years.
He was a master carpenter and cabinetmaker and built many homes in the eastern Greene County area. He also built furniture and case pieces for family and friends.
He loved animals, dogs and horses in particular, and owned many in his long lifetime.
His greatest love was his family, who mourn his loss. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Farley Allen, who he married June 22, 1945; his son Steve Allen and his wife Kay of Bloomfield, Indiana; his daughter MaryAnn Faudree, of Bloomfield, Indiana; his grandson Scott Clark, of Washington, D.C.; granddaughters Pam Hays and her husband Greg, of Charleston, South Carolina and Kara Barnard of Nashville, Indiana; and two great-grandchildren Wyatt and Chelsea Hays of Charleston, South Carolina; two brothers, John Allen of Bloomfield and James Allen of Washington; He also leaves behind to mourn his beloved Boston Terrier, Tony.
Services will be Sunday, January 10th at 2 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with burial in Solsberry Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has request donations in his name be made to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or Family Life Center, Bloomfield, Indiana.
