Betty Jane Williams, 87, of Linton passed away at 1:00 A.M. on Tuesday January 1, 2008 at her residence.
Born October 6, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota she was the daughter of Morley & Laura (Larsen) Walter.
Upon graduation Betty accepted a secretarial position at the Military Base where she met and married her husband of fourty-six years, Charles Eugene "Gene" Williams.
Together the couple owned and operated several businesses in the Bloomfield community, including: the Bloomfield IGA, Southern Steak House, Williams Laundry Mat, Highland Village Laundry Mat and Southern Bait & Tackle.
Upon retiring the couple lived for several years in Texas until Gene's death and Betty returned to her Indiana roots.
Betty was a member of the Linton American Legion Auxiliary Post # 22, a former volunteer for Greene County General Hospital, former member of the Eastern Star in Bloomfield, and the official ambassador of the Linton McDonald's.
She is survived by her loving children; Sharon Hanyon of Linton, Indiana., Charles Williams of Silsbie, Texas., John Williams of Missouri City, Texas., and Robert Williams of Linton, Indiana. 2 sisters Maureen & Sandy. 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several Nieces & Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Eugene "Gene" Williams, her parents, a sister and grandson's Robert Phillip McFadden, and Jordan Ross Williams.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday January 4, 2008 and 1 hour prior to services Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday January 5, 2008 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Donations may be made to Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield to help with final expenses.
