Barbara Joan (Frye) McGlothlin 89, of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born March 27, 1936 in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Charlie and Georgia (Mullis) Frye.
Barbara retired from RCA after 35 years of service. She was a member of Mineral Methodist Church.
Barb was a sweet and spunky woman who loved deeply and spoke her mind just as freely. She adored her children unconditionally—though she never hesitated to tell them exactly what she thought. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly believing they were perfect in every way. Barb loved a good margarita from Casa Sevilla, trips to the casino, and catching up with old friends at her class reunions. Her Friday visits to the beauty shop were a weekly highlight, and she treasured the friendships she built throughout her life. Barb's warmth, wit, and unwavering honesty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving relatives include: her children, James McGlothlin, Rhonda Hendricks (Jim) and Pam Poe (George); her grandchildren, Jayme Porter (Justin), Charles Hendricks (Cassi), Brant McGlothlin (Alexis), Bryce McGlothlin (Lexy) and Nick Poe; great grandchildren, Shaylin, Madison, Zylah, Ayden, Caden and Aspen; and one brother, Dave Frye (Peggy).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Eugene "Gene" McGlothlin on January 29, 2023, brothers, Donald & Kenneth Frye, a grandson, Tyler McGlothlin, her grandmother who raised her, Ina Mullis and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jim Roach officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday and from 11:00 am until the hour of services on Friday at the funeral home.
