Anthony Eugene "Tony" Van Deventer

Anthony Eugene “Tony” Van Deventer, 55, of Melbourne, Florida passed away Friday August 7, 2026.

Born March 17, 1971, in Linton, Indiana, the son of Larry E. “Doc” Van Deventer and Edna M. (Carpenter) Thompson.

Tony worked for L3 Harris Corporation, a government contractor in the aerospace/defense industry. Tony enjoyed traveling home to Indiana to visit with family and friends and working in his gardens. Tony was also an exceptional artist, and as a teenager, entered and won awards in many local art competitions.

Surviving relatives include his son Vince Van Deventer, his mother and stepfather, Edna and Lloyd Thompson, sisters, Kim Van Deventer, Larrysa (Reese) Van Deventer and Donni Van Deventer.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Larry E. “Doc” Van Deventer, both sets of grandparents, Ruby and Reed Van Deventer and Joe and Josephine Carpenter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday August 20, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 1 P.M. Friday until the time of service.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

The family ask that any memorial donations in Tony’s name be given to Walnut Grove Cemetery.
