Albert James Porter, 88, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his son Paul and daughter-in-law, Polly.

Albert retired from Brinks, Inc. He moved to Bloomfield with his wife, Sue Ellen (Lucas) Porter to take care of her mother, Ruth (Street) Lucas, who both precede him in death. While living in Bloomfield, he worked for the Bloomfield State Bank.

Albert served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Albert was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jim and Hazel (Giles) Porter. He had six brothers and sisters precede him in death. He was a graduate of South High School in Grand Rapids and a graduate of Depaul University.

Albert is survived by his son, Paul (Polly) Porter, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to express gratitude for the out pouring of love for Albert in his last days.

Private Graveside services are planned. The family requests no flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeport Cemetery in care of Jenkins Funeral Home
