Obituary

William Hinkle Hartzburg, 74, of Scotland, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Roudebush VA Medical Center while surrounded by loved ones.

Born December 4, 1942 in Vincennes, the son of Walter and Dortha (Walker) Hartzburg.

He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Salisbury Sound. He was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Award. He retired from NSWC Crane. He was a lifetime member of the Crane VFW, a member of the American Legion, The AMVETS, and the Moore Lodge #303. He loved IU, the Indianapolis Colts. The St. Louis Cardinals, the Bloomfield Cardinals and all things basketball. He also loved to garden, swim, be outdoors, watch TV with his family, and much more.

Surviving relatives include his wife Patty (Bucher) Hartzburg; his daughters, Abby Jo Hartzburg, Kristi Hartzburg, Nikki Loveless and Amy Hartzburg; his son-in-law, Randy Baker; his grandchildren, Elissa Foster, Macy Rush, Zac Foster, Caleb Beaman, Ethan Hayes, Jacob McCarter and Laney Collins; his great grandson, Brooks Foster; one brother and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Scotland cemetery. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
